Director Siddharth Anand has exciting news for fans of the ‘Dhoom’ series, as he has officially announced the much-awaited fourth installment. In a recent social media post, Anand promised to share an update on the upcoming film later in the day, sparking a frenzy of anticipation among cinema-goers.
According to initial reports, it seems that Vijay Krishna Acharya will be returning to helm the fourth part, which he is also writing. The action entertainer will be produced under the YRF banner by Aditya Chopra.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, ‘Dhoom’ is an ambitious action-packed thriller that follows ACP Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) and his sidekick Ali Akbar Fateh Khan (Uday Chopra) as they hunt down notorious villains. The first installment, directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, featured John Abraham as the negative lead and hit the screens in 2004. The second and third parts saw Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Aamir Khan respectively playing the antagonists.
In an interview, Aditya Chopra spoke about the unique concept of the franchise, saying, “I wanted to make a film where I could remove the three pillars of Hindi films – drama, emotion and romance – and see what happens! With ‘Dhoom’, I aimed to combine the styles of Manmohan Desai and Michael Bay. I spent more money on bikes than on the stars of the film, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, and Uday Chopra.”
